Giants CB Ross returned to practice and may play in two weeks

Having missed all practices since his pulled left hamstring in training camp in August, the New York Giants cornerback Aaron Ross practiced for the first time Wednesday in his Giants jersey.

He expects to be ready for playing for the Giants against the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 22. That means he will have about 10 days to undergo treatment and work on his conditioning to be fully recovered for playing a whole game.

It was second-year pro Terrell Thomas who has started during Ross’ absence and it may take quite much time for Ross to get his timing back. As the Giants have been struggling at safety since Kenny Phillip ended his season as early as in September because of a knee injury, Ross may get some playing time as safety, a role he played while playing at Texas.

NFL announced fined players

This week the players who received fines from the NFL include the Arizona Cardinals safety Antrel Rolle, tackle Levi Brown, the Indianapolis Colts cornerback Jacob Lacey, the Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams, Cleveland Browns linebacker Kaluka Maiava, New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw and safety Michael Johnson.

Cardinals Rolle was fined $7,500 for hitting tight end Kevin Boss of the Giants in last Sunday’s win, and Brown was fined $5,000 for a chop block, the same as the Panthers Williams, who did the chop block in last Sunday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills while picking up a blitz.

Colts Lacey received a fine of $10,000 because he went to the ground to celebrate after a touchdown in a win over St. Louis Rams and the league considered that was unsportsmanlike conduct.

Browns rookie Maiava, Giants Bradshaw and Johnson each was fined $5,000 for unnecessary roughness. Maiava hit Packers receiver Greg Jennings in the game, Bradshaw struke DT in Cardinals jersey named Darnell Dockett in the face mask last Sunday, and Johnson hit Kurt Warner in the head in the same game.

Giants starting RT McKenzie might miss game in Kansas City with sprained knee

Having not missed a start since Nov. 5, 2006, the New York Giants starting right tackle Kareem McKenzie, however, might have to miss this weekend’s game in Kansas City against the winless Chiefs. The cause is a sprained right knee.

On Monday, McKenzie said that his knee was “wonderful” as he walked into the locker room. And on the same day, Coach Tom Coughlin said that his status for the game against the Chiefs is uncertain while starting left guard Rich Seubert will likely play even though Seubert was also injured (right shoulder) in the 24-0 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Other injured players that would return to field include cornerbacks Aaron Ross and Kevin Dockery and rookie receiver Hakeen Nicks. Ross and Dockey have missed three games with hamstring injuries, and Nicks’ foot injury has kept him out for the past two weeks.

Cowboys QB Romo will start Sunday game against Giants despite injured ankle

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo sprained his ankle in the second quarter against Tampa Bay, but with that injury he still passed for a career-high 353 yards and three touchdowns, and planned to start as schedule on Sunday night in the game against the New York Giants.

Although Romo still needed to walk around with his foot wrapped in ice before practice Wednesday, he said that he would be fine to play on Sunday. "I'll be fine," Romo said. "There's nothing wrong with it. … It will be 100 percent.”

But the Giants have an outstanding defensive line, and Romo knows well that they have a bunch of guys that can rotate in and he will face a strong Giants front seven. However, the Cowboys are confident in Romo’s ability. Indeed, he is good at eluding defenders in the pocket and moving long enough to create big plays. So it is really a game worth high expectation.
